Next edition in 2026-27

The Orchestre de Paris and its Music Director Klaus Mäkelä confirm their international, social and educational ambition with the Orchestre de Paris Academy. Aimed at all young top-level instrumentalists at the end of their final studies, it offers an opportunity to perfect orchestral technique by means of an accompagnied professional experience.

The Summer Academy

End August 2026

For a week at the end of the summer, the Academy plays and performs  a programme of symphonic repertoire side by side with the musicians of the Orchestre de Paris culminating in a concert at Philharmonie de Paris.

This programme includes not only tutti and desk sectional sessions, but also individual coaching on the Orchestra audition repertoire. Academy members are supervised by the solists and desk members of the Orchestre de Paris.

 Accomodation and meals are provided.
Travel aid is available on request.

The Studio Academy

January to May 2027 included

The Studio Academy offers up to 5 months of professionnal experience in the Orchestre de Paris for 5 laureates ; 2 violins, 1 viola, 1 violincello and 1 double bass who have also also participated in the Summer Academy.

The Studio Academy members benefit from personalized accompaniment by the soloists and desk members of the Orchestre de Paris. They have the opportunity to perform at the Philharmonie de Paris under some of the world’s top conductors, including Klaus Mäkelä. In addition to orchestral concerts, they participate in an international tour and chamber music concerts.

Audition technique and training is offered and the academy members also participate in the orchestra’s outreach activities.
Academy members receive a monthy allowance.

WIND, TIMPANI AND PERCUSSIONS : Selection via application form and videos only.

STRINGS : Pre-selection via application form and videos, followed by auditions at the Philharmonie de Paris.
Travel and hotel aid may be requested.
The Academy Studio members are  selected during audition.

Juliette Greer

Violonist - Studio Academy - Season 2024/2025

Juliette Greer is a French-Americain violonist. In 2022 she gained particular attention at the Johann Sebastian Bach International Competition in Leipzig where she won the 4th Prize with Special Mention for Best Performance of Bach’s Chaconne in D minor.She studied music at the New England Conservatory in Boston and Carnegie Mellon University before obtaining her Master’s degree at the Juillard School, New York.From an early age she has been devoted to chamber music and participates regularly in the summer chamber music festivals of Kneisel Hall (Maine), Perlman Chamber Music (New York), Thy Chamber Music (Denmark) and Valley of the Moon Music Festival (California).On several occasions she has held the position of concertmaster in the New England Conservatory and the Juillard School orchestras 

Yoichiro Ueno

Violonist - Studio Academy - Season 2024/2025

Yoichiro Ueno was born into a family of musicians in Kyoto in 2002. He began studying violin and piano at the age of four and continued his violin studies with Asuka Sezaki and then Masaaki Tanokura at the Kyoto Horikawa Municipal High School of Music whilst also receiving lessons from the French violinist Gérard Poulet.Yoichiro joined the Conservatoire de Paris – CNSMDP in 2021 and obtained his Batchelor’s degree three years later with the highest unanimous jury distinction. He continues his studies in Svetlin Roussev’s class, assisted by Julien Szulman. Yoichiro has performed concerts in Kyoto and Osaka, as well as recitals in Bangkok for over 10 years and in 2017 and 2018, he participed in the Gifu Chamber Music Seminar in Japan. In 2022, he performed on stage with Michel Michalakakos and Marc Lys as part of the Spring Concert organized by the Association of Alumni and Students of the Conservatoire. He was an academy member of the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France during the 2023/2024 season, being selected for the the Orchestre de Paris’ Studio Academy in 2024/25.

Paul Wiener

Violist - Studio Academy - Season 2024/2025

Paul Wiener was born into a family of musicians in 2001. HIs great-grand father was the pianist and composer Jean Wiener (1896-1982). Paul began learning the violin with his mother and following lessons with Jacques Benvallet, he joined the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional in Paris in 2016 where he studied with Stéphanie Moraly. On her advice, he switched to the viola with Sébastien Luigi as his teacher. He won second prize at the National Young Violists Competition in 2019 on his great grandfather’s instrument. He joined the Conservatoire de Paris – CNSMDP in 2020, studying viola with David Gaillard. In 2022, he pursued violin studies under Stéphanie-Marie Degand at the same establishment and. In 2023, he obtained a chamber music degree with his friend, violist Guillaume Florès. In 2024, he obtained his Batchelor’s Diploma for viola, was pre selected for the Tertis International Competition and won a place in the Orchestre de Paris’s Studio Academy 2024/2025 season.
Paul is involved in various musical projects, such as the illustrated show Petite Sœur Lueur (2022-2024), the French Violists Collective (2024), and was selected to perform with the European Union Youth Orchestra (2022), Orchestre de Chambre de Paris Academy (2022), and the Verbier Festival Orchestra (2023 and 2024). He works regularly with the Orchestre National de France, the Orchestre de Paris, and at the Philharmonie de Paris. This year Paul Wiener continues his studies at the Conservatoire de Paris to complete his viola Master’s degree, alongside his dual studies in violin and viola. He is also starting a chamber music degree with the Simone Quartet.

Valentin Hoffmann

Cellist - Studio Academy - Season 2024/2025

Valentin Hoffmann began his ‘cello studies at the Brest Conservatory in Marie-Pierre Pinard's class. He joined the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional (CRR) of Boulogne-Billancourt in 2016 to study with Xavier Gagnepain. In 2020, he was admitted to the Conservatoire de Paris– CNSMDP, where he studied with Marc Coppey and Pauline Bartissol. He obtained his Bachelor's degree in 2023. He has participated in numerous sessions of the Orchestre Français des Jeunes, in the 2023/2024 academy of the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, and performs chamber music regularly, particularly with the piano quartet Igami (created in 2021).
In 2025, he became a member of the Orchestre de Paris  - Academy Studio. He also plays in various traditional music styles and improvises. With the  ‘cellist Clémence Mebsout, he founded the duo Ourika, aimed at rediscovering music from the Arab-Ottoman and Balkan cultures. Valentin plays an instrument by Lecavellé, made in Mirecourt around 1850, generously lent by Marie-Pierre Pinard, his first teacher, and a bow by Clémence de Lartigue, lent by the Ateliers du violoncelle. He received project grants in 2023 and 2024 from the Vincent Meyer Foundation for artistic and cultural development.

Iris Plaisance-Godey

Double bassist - Studio Academy - Season 2024/2025

Iris Plaisance-Godey is a double bassist born in Montbéliard, where she began her musical studies at the age of ten. She is currently studying at the Conservatoire de Paris – CNSMDP in Nicolas Crosse’s class. Iris participated in the Orchestre Français des Jeunes (OFJ) in 2019 and 2020, and alongside her studies, she plays with national symphonic orchestras such as those of Mulhouse (OSM), Strasbourg (OPS), the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France (OPRF), and the Orchestre de l'Opéra de Paris. Chamber music is very much an integral part of her musical life and she has been participating in the Musique à St Hipp’ and D440 festivals in various ensembles for several years. She was selected for the the Orchestre de Paris’ Studio Academy in 2024/25.
